14.05.2018

Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russia, signed an official decree on the construction of the Chelyabinsk – Yekaterinburg high-speed railway on 13 May 2018. The high-speed rail line from Chelyabinsk to Yekaterinburg is by far the biggest infrastructure project in the country. It is included in the new version of the Russian Railway Transport Development Strategy by 2030 as well as in the first phase of the Programme for the Development of the High-speed Rail Network in the Russian Federation. RWM Capital is the part of the project implementation team.

With the railway line put into operation, it will take just 1 hour 10 minutes to travel from Chelyabinsk to Yekaterinburg. Mr Medvedev noted that the Ural region would benefit from the project, as the railway would provide new job opportunities for the population and new ways of business cooperation for Ural-based companies.

The project is to be implemented on the principles of public-private partnership as a private concessive initiative. Ural Expressway economic partnership, Executor of the project, includes representatives of the Chelyabinsk Government, Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant (ChelPipe), Russian Copper Company, Development Corporation of the Sverdlovsk region, and RWM Capital.
